The 2s got things off to a good start at @baps_hoc

The 2s got things off to a good start at @baps_hockeyclub in the first game of the day. A solid defensive performance kept BAPs off the scoresheet, and a converted PC from @katieplunksmoore late in the first half gave them a lead which they hung on to until the final whistle for their first points of the season 🙌🏼 #itonlytakesone

Over at @merchantsacademysports the 1s hosted @northwiltshc in the only home fixture of the day. North Wilts came out of the blocks strong and took the lead from an early PC call which Knowle would have sent upstairs. Not being an international fixture though, they pulled themselves together and quickly levelled things with a corner conversion of their own from @michellegregory104 . A second followed as @kiragardner_ tucked away a cross from returning @em.ily.h_ , and @ciderbolt put away another PC to go into half-time 3-1 up. North Wilts started strong again and narrowed the gap shortly after the break. Knowle rallied again and Georgie made it 4 to finish with a well-deserved goal to cap an impressive 1s debut! #thefutureisbright

Up north of the river, the 3s travelled to Redmaids to play @westberrieslhc 6s development side. A positive first half saw them keep a clean sheet, and @xlucyn.x put in a PC to take the lead going into the break. Westberries came back strong in the second half and turned pressure into goals to ultimately finish 3-1 up. Plenty of positives to take away and build on for next week though! #learnings 💪🏼

It was a warm, bright autumn morning for the hocke

It was a warm, bright autumn morning for the hockeyball this week, with the 2s and 3s at @merchantsacademysports in a @redlandladieshc double-header and the 1s on the road at @yateoutdoorsportscomplex visiting @yatehockeyclub L2s.

Post-match reports from the south side noted a great first half for the 2s, albeit without quite managing to convert the attack into goals. As the match went on, a bit of fatigue kicked in and Redland were able to capitalise and extend their lead out to 6 by the final whistle. Score line aside, plenty of good stuff in there to build-on for coming weeks… It was a similar story for the 3s, who had some great passages of play and put in a good shift at the back but didn’t quite manage to convert opportunity to numbers on the board. Lots of learnings to take into training this eve and work on over the half-term match break.
Meanwhile in Yate, the 1s soaked up the pressure from a lively Yate attack in a manner which Mourinho, Wenger and Nate the Great would’ve been proud of, and made for a tense 0-0 affair late into the second half. With about 10mins to go, Knowle were awarded a PC which @jencallicott123 got enough of a stick on to tap it in and take the lead. The crew re-parked the bus, and despite some squeaky bum moments, put in a united defensive effort until the final whistle to take their second win of the season. #believe #hockeyislife

Last weekend a postponement for the 2s meant it was just the 3s and 1s in action. At @merchantsacademysports once home and away sides had negotiated the chaotic car-parking situation, a fast-paced game with RWB1s followed. Monday’s defensive PC practice was put to good use, and it was a clean sheet until the last 10mins when if goals went to scorers, Knowle technically finished 2… #oops

North of the city at Orchard School, the 3s faced well-drilled league leaders @bristolbbhockey. The Knowle were put under the cosh from the off by a strong Bluebirds attack, and despite a gutsy defensive effort, the blues managed to put 6 in before the half-time whistle. Refreshed after the break Knowle only let Bluebirds convert their attack twice, and created more offensive play of the own. Late in the game Georgie made a breakaway, driving into the D and slipping the ball back post for @violetverrall to tap in for her first league goal 🙌🏼 #fightingtotheend

*Quick mid-week round-up*
Last Saturday the 2s & 3s were back to back at @merchantsacademysports vs @southgloshockey 1s & @northsomersethc 3s respectively. “Really good hockey from both teams today” was the feedback from pitchside spies, particularly from the 3s who put the club points on the board this weekend. 🙌🏼 Over at Wellsway, the 1s also reported some really good hockey… from their oppo @keynshamhockeyclub 1. Knowle put in a good shift, with a 100% PC conversion rate and everything, but it was a deserved 3pts for the navy&yellows… this time 😉

Scorers this week were Em P for the 2s, @prillins_1 for the 1s and Plumb for the 3s with a spectacular diving finish (assist credit to Georgie) #fallingwithstyle #boom

The 1s made their new league debut at home in a lively encounter with some familiar faces from @baclhc 😊 Goals, flicks, cards and injuries (speedy recovery, both!) on each side; it had it all!

Knowle’s defence was put to the test from the off, and managed to keep the sheet clean until a well-executed PC saw BAC take the lead late in the first half. Re-fuelled by jelly babies, Knowle pulled level with a flick from @em.ily.h_ , edged ahead with a calmly put away second from @michellegregory104 and made it 3 with a PC from @zoster187 . Good work, gang!! 🙌🏼

Last Saturday feels a long time ago after the hock

Last Saturday feels a long time ago after the hockey-free Bank Hol weekend! The 2s finished their season with a bit of an anti-climax 5-0 walkover to keep them above the drop-zone after Hanham sadly couldn’t field a team. The action isn’t over though; between now and the end of season do there’ll be some arm-wrestling going on to claim the goals and decide the top scorer contest! 💪🏼

In the other scheduled home fixture of the day, the 3s lost 5-0 to @southgloshockey 2s. The first round meeting was an 11-0 defeat though, so cutting the deficit shows the squad’s hard work this season is paying off. 👏🏼

Meanwhile the 1s wrapped up their season with a 6-0 win at @keynshamhockeyclub. With it all to play for in the top scorer contest, @em.ily.h_ put two well taken goals away to open the scoring. @meghanjoycephotography added another, and they unselfishly shared the goal love round the rest of the forward line with @kiragardner_ , @k_lt4 and @soph.ie1 adding one each to the tally. The team finish the league at least 11pts clear with a GD of 75; top work.
